Concerto Programme — 28

Dear Friends and Ludwigs,

Welcome to another beautiful week.

The past 6 months have been such an incredible journey and we can’t quite believe how quickly the time has passed.

Half a year ago we embarked on a voyage into the unknown; we rose from the underworlds with a mission in mind and a strong desire to share that vision with the world.

The road to Vienna is one paved full of adventure and so far it’s been nothing short of magnificent. With twists and turns, highs and lows, the journey thus far has been so much fun and we have learned so much along the way.

Vienna still lies on the distant horizon but as we stand on this road, we take a moment to reflect on just how far we have come and to celebrate the friendships we have made along the way.

As a protocol we have matured. The road has imbued us with wisdom and experience (the kind that only comes through living) and we now are stronger, more resilient for it.

As a community we have evolved. From a band of just a few to a band of thousands, we continue to grow and develop as a collective. With love and hope as guiding lights, there is nothing that can stop us when we work together.

So, what’s on the Concerto Programme this week?

Performance Report

In the spirit of reflection, let’s dive into the half year performance report. This marks a major milestone for the protocol as we cross that 6 month threshold. A lot has happened over that time and this report aims to break it all down in a fun, easy and educational manner. Enjoy!

Live Events

The music never stops and this week is no exception. Here are the gigs we have lined up for this week:

  • AMA with the Bytemasons — Come and join this Saturday at 17:00 UTC for a chat with the crew. From their recent deployment on Optimism to updates on collaboration, tune in and check out what is in the pipeline.
  • Technical Tuesdays — A down to earth conversation with the team around tech, product and strategy. This session will be in a drop in style format with the idea being to spitball relevant topics / questions with the community.

The act of remastering music essentially improves the quality of the original copy of a song or album. It removes flaws from the music, providing a cleaner, sharper and more refined listening experience whilst trying to bring the music up to date with the current standard.

This week we feature a symphony that has gone through that exact process. A popular original brought up to the current standard. It’s none other than Battle of the Bands Remastered.

Community Centre

Community Town Hall: Last week we gathered together for the monthly Town Hall AMA. It was joyus, it was festive and it was fun. We typically try to record these sessions for any members not able to make the live event. Our beloved recording bot has unfortunately seen better days and we were not able to catch a clean recording.

We have however compiled a bite sized summary for the town hall / past 6 months in the following twitter thread:

Lotus Room: Community lies at the heart of Beethoven X and we want to make sure we can be there for you all in as many ways as we can.

Due to travel constraints, the community breathwork session on Wednesday (12:00 UTC) has been cancelled. We will update everyone on Discord if we find a suitable time slot this week to reschedule.

The Thursday conscious conversation however is still on track. Come and join us at 12:00 UTC on the #lotus-voice channel for a cup of tea and a friendly chat. This is an open space for anyone who feels called to join in.

It’s been a busy year for the governance hub. As always we are super stoked to have the community actively involved and engaged in steering the direction of the protocol.

Currently we have one proposal up for vote on snapshot -🎗︲bip23-infrastructure-cost

  • The proposal is as follows: The DAO treasury covers the infrastructure cost of Beethoven X up to a maximum of $10k per month, this would be for a total of 6 month starting with the month of May which totals to $60k for May until October.

New Emissions from Gauge Vote

Another wave of the bi-weekly Gauge Vote has been completed and we would love to give a big shoutout to everyone who participated. The emission updates for pools will be updated this Wednesday and the final results for Round 14 can be found here.

Tech / Development

Wen V2?

It’s full steam ahead as we approach the launch of BEETS V2. Progress is steady underway and things are nearing completion. With the goal for a release at the end of July it’s all about the details and fine tuning.

This week’s focus has been all about developing horizontal scalability for the SOR, leveraging AWS lambdas as part of the infrastructure rebuild for V2; the SOR is the single largest consumer computer resource we have and it is imperative we are sure it can scale under load.

Another focus has been on improving user token balance indexing. This is to streamline loading of user balancers and as a result lead to faster retrieval times and therefore quicker display times.

There has been a major focus on design work around the trade / invest UI as well as optimisation of the website.

A BIG shoutout to Skly one of the lead Devs on the team who is now back from paternity leave. The Dev team is now back to full capacity and they are ready to get stuck in.

As we roll through optimism city in our Imagine Wagon seeking summer vibes like it was 1969, our creativity sparks. Something is in the making, something big, something colourful. Reflecting our summer vibes and our road trip. We’re still tripping, painting, composing and singing. OP users will be rewarded this summer, while there will also be something blue. While we’re surfing on a creative high, working on a bigger drop, we also have some immediate gifts for you. On Friday we’ll be minting and giving away an NFT of the Mix-Tape and Mementos collection in the 🍹︲ludwig-lounge on our Discord.

What a ride! As the journey develops we continue to grow along the way. The evolution of the protocol and the community provides us with a source of unshakable inspiration. The further along the road we get the more committed we are to our cause. Step by step, foot by foot, we are walking towards an inevitable future. We are making the changes we need to in order to become the best protocol we can be and we will continue on our mission until our bony fingers bleed.

The road to Vienna is such a beautiful journey and there is truly nothing more an undead composer could ask for.

Love as always,

Beethoven X
