Redefining Our PMF: BEETS on Sonic
The migration to Sonic isn’t just about a new home — it’s about refining BEETS’ role as a cornerstone of the ecosystem. With a clear focus on Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs), BEETS is set to lead innovation and drive value within Sonic’s evolving landscape.
Through the acquisition of sFTMx from Stader and the integration of a Fantom validator into our tech stack, BEETS is no longer just a DEX. It’s positioned as the backbone of Sonic’s staking economy, providing users with enhanced yield opportunities built on a secure, scalable foundation.
Key Highlights:
- LST-Centric Focus: BEETS empowers users to maximize S capital efficiency with it’s Staked S LST (stS) and innovative products designed around LSTs. Everything to do with LSTs on Sonic can be accessed directly on BEETS — Minting, Staking, Liquidity Providing, and Lending (via Boosted Pools).
- Boosted Pools: Leveraging Balancer v3 technology to redefine LP yield optimization, offering swap fees and lending market returns in one seamless product. Boosted Pools are the most capital efficient LP position for users on Sonic, and the only market that provides both swap fees and lending interest rates simultaneously.
- Validator Operations: Supporting the security and decentralization of the Sonic network with a DAO managed S Validator. With liquidity allocated via the underlying staking mechanism of stS, the BEETS validator will likely grow to become a focal validator for the Sonic ecosystem and revenue source for the DAO and maBEETS holders.
This refined PMF positions BEETS as a leader in Sonic’s next chapter, ensuring both technical strength and community-driven growth.
Migration Overview
The migration process will encompass transitioning BEETS, maBEETS, sFTMx, and LPs to Sonic.
While seamless migration is a priority, certain steps will require user involvement. Below is a detailed guide to ensure a smooth transition.
BEETS Migration
Process:
- BEETS will migrate to Sonic using LayerZero as the bridging provider, the same mechanism currently used to bridge BEETS to Optimism via Stargate.
- After bridging, users can exchange operaBEETS for the new sonicBEETS on Sonic at a 1:1 ratio.
- The exchange will remain two-way for 90 days. After this period, it will become one-way, allowing conversions only from operaBEETS to sonicBEETS.
Ticker Update:
- $BEETS will remain as $BEETS across both networks.
maBEETS Migration
Process:
- maBEETS contains LPs paired with wFTM, which must be converted to stS for use on Sonic.
Users will need to:
- Break their maBEETS position to withdraw the proportional amounts of wFTM and BEETS.
- Bridge BEETS to Sonic via the method outlined above.
- Exchange wFTM for S (Sonic’s native token) through Sonic Labs’ mechanism.
- Stake S for stS on Beets
- Recreate the maBEETS position by pairing the bridged BEETS with stS.
Incentives:
• Migrated maBEETS positions will receive an NFT as a token of recognition, ensuring eligibility for potential future rewards on Sonic.
Ticker Updates:
• $maBEETS will remain as $maBEETS across both networks.
sFTMx Migration
Process:
- Since sFTMx cannot be directly migrated, users will need to undelegate their $sFTMx without penalty.
- Withdraw the underlying FTM tokens after the new 24-hour unstaking period.
- Bridge the withdrawn FTM to Sonic to receive S, and stake the S in the stS page on beets once live.
Alternative:
- Users can sell their sFTMx on the open market, but this may result in a less favorable rate compared to the standard unstaking process.
Ticker Updates:
- sFTMx will become stS to align with Sonic’s token naming conventions.
LP Migration
Process:
- LPs cannot be directly migrated due to changes in token contracts between Fantom and Sonic.
- Users will need to withdraw tokens from LP positions, bridge each token individually to Sonic, and recreate the LP positions using Sonic-compatible token contracts.
Note for LPs: BEETS emissions will continue on Fantom until they are activated on Sonic. The LPs on Fantom will continue to earn swap fees as long as there is volume.
Strategic Pools on Sonic
To support users transitioning to Sonic, Beethoven X will launch strategic pools that enhance liquidity opportunities while leveraging Sonic’s new infrastructure:
Featured Pools at Launch:
- S-LST | wS: Optimized for staking efficiency and yield maximization.
- USDC | S-LST: Designed for stable liquidity and trading.
- USDC | USDT: Seamless stablecoin liquidity.
As a permissionless protocol, BEETS allows the community to create pools with any token pair. Whether you’re building a new strategy or looking to leverage unique combinations, support will be available for users interested in creating their own pools on BEETS.
A New Era with Balancer V3
The migration to Sonic will also bring the advanced capabilities of Balancer v3 to BEETS. In January, BEETS will upgrade the underlying Balancer v2 tech stack to Balancer v3, unlocking transformative infrastructure upgrades and new features that redefine liquidity provision and development.
Key Features:
- 100% Boosted Pools: 100% Boosted Pools offer liquidity providers the simplest solution to boosting yields with a diversified, risk-adjusted return on their assets from the two dominant yield-generating applications in DeFi — Decentralised Exchanges and Lending Markets — in just one click.
- Custom Pools: With a 10x improvement in Developer Experience (DX), Balancer v3 is set to solidify its role as the go-to base layer for custom pool innovation, fuelling the next generation of AMM design and driving the evolution of the on-chain economy. BEETS brings this technology straight to SONIC to empower the next wave of developers to build unique custom pool types on a blazing fast, high-throughput network.
- Hooks Framework: The introduction of Hooks in v3 unlocks a brand new design space on Sonic for developers to optimize the management of liquidity for LPs, protocols, and DAOs. Hooks allow customized pool behavior, dynamic fee structures ,and entirely new AMM strategies.
- Yield Capture: Yield fees are unique to balancer tech, allowing the protocol to capture a % of any yield-bearing assets interest. With 100% boosted pools, this has the power to convert any asset with an external yield market into a yield-bearing asset, effectively turning the whole DEX Yield Bearing. Yield Bearing DEX + Yield Capture = sustainable, real yield revenue flowing to the DAO and maBEETS stakers.
